Further to the planned field visit to the archaeology site at Pulau Melaka, on the morning of
17th of September 2020 by the Heritage Commissioner of Jabatan Warisan Negara (JWN) Tn Hj
Mesran Mohd Yusop, the General Manager of PERZIM Drs Mohd Nasruddin Rahman, the
Deputy Chairman of PERZIM Datuk Akramuddin Abdul Aziz, the Director of Archaeology at JWN
En Ruzairy Arbi, together with executives from JWN and PERZIM, and the media, and a
subsequent press conference, a report was drawn up by Dionysius Sharma: “Archaeology of
Pulau Melaka, Melaka - A Preliminary Report on Current Findings and a Proposal to Survey and
Salvage Artefacts – 10th October 2020”.
In discussions with Hatten Group executives to confirm the exact locations of the land bank
belonging to the Group, a map was made available to Dionysius Sharma, demarcating the areas
under their development plans (see Figure 1). This was subsequently forwarded to JWN for
their records and planning of the follow up “rescue archaeology” works.
